Storage concept The phase change material (PCM) thermal energy storage (TES) considered in this study utilizes the latent energy change of materials to store thermal energy generated by the solar field in a concentrated solar thermal power plant. It does this using an array of materials organized based on melting temperature.
Phase Change Technology refers to a process that utilizes the Latent Heat of Vaporization of a working fluid to absorb thermal energy during the evaporator cycle and release this energy during the condenser cycle. This technology involves transitions between solid, liquid, and gaseous phases of a material, typically requiring large amounts of energy compared to the specific heat.
